This Wales, WI family session was especially meaningful.
The family reached out after receiving unexpected and difficult news about their dog's health. They wanted to capture photographs of their family together as quickly as possible. Since their dog needed to feel comfortable, we decided that their backyard would be the perfect setting.
I love when family photography can happen in a place that already feels familiar. Their backyard gave the kids room to move and gave their dog a comfortable environment. Instead of asking their furry family member to adjust to a new location, we could simply focus on spending time together.

For this session, we photographed the whole family together. We also made sure to capture individual moments between the kids and their dog.
Those smaller interactions became especially important.
We captured the kids loving on their furry friend. We photographed family hugs and everyday moments. We also gave the dog plenty of opportunities to simply be himself in a familiar space.
Because we worked in their backyard, the session felt natural. The kids could move around. Their dog could relax. Everyone had space to interact without the pressure of a traditional portrait setting.
