WHAT TO EXPECT…
Some babies dig right in, some are more dainty with it, and some babies won’t even go by the cake. It might be messy so mom & dad should be prepared to get cake on their clothes as well. Your baby will likely crawl (or RUN) off set multiple times, but that’s okay. I capture the chaos, that is the fun of it!
It is always good to do a trail run at home a few days before the session with a cupcake, especially if your little one hasn’t had cake before.
Often during the session we have to break a piece off for baby to get a first taste or mush their hands into it to get them started. After about 10 minutes of smashing we will get baby into a little bucket for some splashing pictures and then clean up.
WHAT TO BRING…
2-3 outfits that match the theme/color scheme you request
The cake is not provided, I strongly suggest purchasing a 5 or 6 inch cake from a reputable baker you trust. Provide the baker with your theme/colors to match the set or keep it simple with a plain white cake.
A towel, we will do a quick bath at the end for clean up / more cute photos. Most babies love bath time and we get great smiles during this!

FAQ
do you provide everything for the set up?
I have a wide variety of props and backdrops, I provide and style the set up to your theme/colors. I don't provide the cake but I do have the cake stands.
Do you have outfits available?
I do have a few outfit options available at my studio. But I still recommend parents bring 2-3 options that go with their chosen theme/colors.
What if my baby cries?
While we can't predict how a baby is going to act, I do try my best to get you a variety of beautiful pictures and have some tricks to encourage baby. Crying pictures are often a favorite anyway!
When should I book?
Some parents like to have their baby's cake smash photo session as close to/on baby's birthday, others like the final images back before the birthday. My editing turn around time is 2 weeks, so if you want the images back by the birthday I recommend booking a date about 2-3 weeks in advance. My availability is limited to booking in advance is encouraged.
