This adorable baby boy recently celebrated his first birthday with a Mickey Mouse-themed cake smash, and it was nothing short of magical! We designed a customized setup featuring a bold red, yellow, and black balloon garland, a large black Mickey face cutout, and twinkle lights to bring the theme to life. The birthday boy had a blast digging into his cake, and we captured so many priceless moments of joy and excitement!
Tips for a Successful Cake Smash Session:
- Choose a Fun Theme – A theme that matches your little one’s personality, birthday or nursery theme, or favorite character makes the session extra special.
- Keep the Outfit Simple – Cute yet comfortable outfits, like suspenders or bloomers for boys or a tutu for girls, work great for cake smashes. Avoid anything too elaborate that might get in the way or something you don't want possibly ruined by the frosting!
- Practice – I like to encourage parents to give their baby a little cupcake or dessert a few days/week before the session, this can help baby get exposure to the new texture before picture day
- Let Baby Explore – Some little ones dive right in, while others take their time. Let them set the pace for the session.
- Expect a Mess – Cake smashes are all about messy fun, don’t stress about the cleanup I got that covered!
- Parents, Be Ready to Jump In – Sometimes, babies need a little encouragement from mom or dad, so be prepared to leave with cake on your clothes as well! Plus, capturing a few family shots adds to the memories.
- Bucket Bath - I usually end with a bucket bath for some splashing pictures, these are always a favorite and usually the best smiles from baby! Bring a towel for after.
