How to Prepare for a Cake Smash Session
1. Choose the Right Outfit
Soft, pastel colors or fun themed outfits work beautifully in photos. Some parents opt for tutus, suspenders, or simple onesies to let the cake take center stage. Be sure to bring a backup outfit—things can get messy!
2. Pick the Perfect Cake
A small, soft cake with buttercream frosting is ideal for smashing. Avoid fondant, as it’s harder for babies to dig into. Coordinate the cake design with the session’s theme to create a cohesive look.
3. Keep It Simple or go all out!
A minimal, simple background helps keep the focus on your baby and the cake. But a fun theme can be an extra special way to customize your session. No matter your style preference just know I can create the perfect set for you.
4. Timing is Key
Schedule the session at a time when your baby is usually happy and well-rested, such as after a nap and a light meal. A hungry or tired baby may not enjoy the experience as much.
